Dr. Candice Johnstone Appointed, Vice Chair of
Clinical Opera琀椀ons in Radia琀椀on Oncology
Candice Johnstone, MD, MPH, Professor of Radia琀椀on Oncology,
has been appointed Vice Chair of Clinical Opera琀椀ons for the
Department. Dr. Johnstone currently serves as
the Medical Director of Radia琀椀on Oncology for Froedtert Health
at the West Bend campus. Dr. Johnstone completed her
undergraduate degree at Harvard College
in Cambridge, Massachuse琀琀s, followed by her medical doctorate
at the New York University School of Medicine. She then pursued
residency at Harvard Medical School through the Joint Center for
Radia琀椀on Therapy and later earned her Master of Public Health
from the Harvard School of Public Health. She is a well published
and recognized leader across many domains of Radia琀椀on
Oncology, probably most well known for her passion for clinical
opera琀椀ons and deep work in pallia琀椀ve care.
Dr. Johnstone brings a substan琀椀al breadth of experience and
a strong familiarity with both our health system network and
departmental opera琀椀ons. She previously served as the Associate
Service Line Director for the Cancer Service Line for Froedtert &
the Medical College of Wisconsin, fostering deep connec琀椀ons
across both the ins琀椀tu琀椀on and our regional satellites.
Addi琀椀onally, she brings valuable experience from outside the
Froedtert/MCW system, having served on faculty at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical School in Hanover, New
Hampshire.
She has served on the boards of several na琀椀onal radiology and radia琀椀on oncology organiza琀椀ons. She is a
Trustee and current President of the Board of Trustees for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
She has served as the President of both the Society of Pallia琀椀ve Radia琀椀on Oncology (SPRO) and the American
Associa琀椀on of Women in Radiology (AAWR). In 2025, she was honored with the “Impact Award” from SPRO
recognizing her contribu琀椀ons to pallia琀椀ve radia琀椀on oncology and the “President’s Award” from the AAWR for
service rendered to that organiza琀椀on.
As we look toward the future of an op琀椀mized, efficient, and world-leading Radia琀椀on Oncology department,
the Vice Chair of Clinical Opera琀椀ons will play a central role in shaping our evolving and expanding health
network. In this posi琀椀on, Dr. Johnstone will focus on enhancing clinical workflows, integra琀椀ng new AI-driven
clinical tools, expanding pa琀椀ent access, and improving efficiency for pa琀椀ents receiving lifesaving, world-class
radia琀椀on therapy. The department’s goal is to ensure that its clinical opera琀椀ons are seamless, pa琀椀entcentered, and maximally efficient.
